Paleo Industry Limited (“Paleo”, “we”, “us”) is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16626412. We are the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

When you email us. If you contact us, for example through the email links on this website, we receive your email address, your name and anything else you include in your message or attachments. Please do not include confidential technical information in an initial enquiry.

When you visit this website. This website is hosted by Squarespace. When you visit, Squarespace automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the website that referred you and the time of your visit. This is used to deliver and protect the website and to give us statistics about visits. Squarespace’s privacy policy explains how it handles this information.

When you apply for a role. Our Technical Co-Founder role is advertised on LinkedIn. If you apply or contact us about it, we receive the information you or LinkedIn provide, such as your name, contact details, CV and professional background. LinkedIn handles information submitted through its service under its own privacy policy.

Giving us information is voluntary, but we cannot reply to you without a way to contact you.

• To reply to you and to discuss investment, technical evaluation, partnerships or other business. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running and developing our business, or steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract.
• To consider job applications and to communicate with candidates. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in recruiting, or steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract.
• To run, protect and understand the use of this website. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in providing a secure, working website.
• To meet legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Lawful basis: legal obligation or our legitimate interests.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means.

We share personal information only where necessary:

• with service providers that handle it on our behalf, including Squarespace (website hosting and statistics) and Google (our email service);
• with professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants;
• with authorities, courts or regulators where the law requires it; and
• with anyone acquiring, investing in or succeeding to all or part of our business, where the information is relevant and subject to confidentiality.

Our service providers, including Squarespace and Google, may process personal information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards that UK data protection law requires, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual clauses.

We keep enquiry emails and related correspondence for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any resulting business relationship, and for a reasonable period afterwards to answer follow-up questions and to meet legal and accounting requirements.

We keep information about job applicants only for as long as the recruitment process needs it, unless you agree to us keeping it for future opportunities. Squarespace keeps website visit data in line with its own retention periods.

This website uses three cookies, set by Squarespace, our website host:

• crumb: strictly necessary. It protects the website against cross-site request forgery and is deleted when you close your browser.
• ss_cvr: Squarespace Analytics. It identifies unique visitors and their visits so that we can see statistics about how the website is used. It lasts up to two years.
• ss_cvt: Squarespace Analytics. It tracks the current visit and lasts 30 minutes.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we have not added any other analytics or tracking tools. We use the statistics only to understand and improve this website.

You can object to the analytics cookies, free of charge, by blocking or deleting cookies for this website in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you from reading the website. Squarespace describes its cookies in more detail in The cookies Squarespace uses.

Under UK data protection law you can ask us:

• for a copy of your personal information;
• to correct information that is inaccurate;

If you are concerned about how we handle your information, please contact us first at richard.eddery@paleoindustry.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond as soon as we can.
